MICRO
ALLOY 2250
Surface Fusion Alloys with Controlled
Heat Input for Welding, Reclamation
and Repairs. CHARACTERISTICS
Micro Alloy 2250 is an excellent Surface
Fusion Alloy developed for welding of
all types of cast iron. The high conductivity
of pure Nickel Core ~ Wire assures low
temperature Fusion with minimum dilution
from base metal. The Weld deposit is
smooth, free from cracks or porosities
and easily machinable.
APPLICATIONS
For Welding all types of cast iron particularly
that of thin section where maximum dilution
occurs and excellent machinability is
required. Specific applications include
components, gear wheels, sprockets,
expeller rings etc. Also recommended
for joining of cast iron to other ferrous
and non ferrous materials.
PROCEDURES
• Gouge/chip the Base
metal at the location of defect.
• Keep the bead length
less than 50 mm. Adopt back step, stepping
stone or symmetry method
for welding large castings to minimise
heat input. • Hot peen the
weld after every pass
• In case of repairs
to crack, if crack is likely to spread,
make stopholes at both ends
of repair part to arrest propogation.

ALLOY 2290
Surface Fusion Alloys with Controlled
Heat Input for Welding, Reclamation
and Repairs. CHARACTERISTICS
Micro Alloy 2290 is an outstanding electrode
that the weld metal chemistry specially
designed to prevent the formation of
MARTEN SITE in cast iron and Ni-hard,
Ni-resist type base metals. The diffused
weld metal has excellent resistance
to cracking and the parent metal dilution
is well controlled. The deposits are
machinable. APPLICATIONS
For welding and surfacing of all types
of Cast Iron, Ni-hard and Ni-resist.
The high crack resistance of the weld
metal makes it most suitable surfacing
alloy Ni-hard PROCEDURES
• Clean the area to be
surfaced throughly, removing all oil,
grease, dirt etc.
• Adopt'Stop gap' welding
restricting the weld length to Minimum.
• Use the right current conditions.

MICRO
ALLOY 2260
Surface Fusion Alloys with Controlled
Heat Input for Welding, Reclamation
and Repairs. CHARACTERISTICS
Micro Alloy 2260 is a specially designed
surface Fusion Alloy for Welding/repair
of all types of cast irons. The weld
deposit is of Ferro-Nickel type and
yields greater bond strength combined
with good ductility. In view of surface
fusion properties, the dilution from
base metal is minimal and hence suitable
for dissimilar metal welds such as cast
iron to steel/non-ferrous materials.
The weld bead is smooth, free from cracks
or porosities and easily machinable.
APPLICATIONS
For welding/repair of all types of cast
iron grey, spheroidal, malleable and
cast steels. As the weld deposit has
excellent resistance to dirt/ oil-specially
suitable for repair of old castings.
Also recommended for welding of cast
iron to ferrous/non-ferrous materials.
PROCEDURES
• Prepare the weld area
by bevelling/gouging to remove defects
using.Micro 'U'.
• Use minimum recommended
current and deposit weld metal in short
beads not exceeding 50 mm.
• Adopt sequence of welding to
minimise local heat input.
• Hot peen the weld after
every pass.
• For repair of crack,
arrest the propagation of crack by drilling
hole at both ends.
